We do everything we can to ensure you look as great on the outside as you feel on the inside with a spray tan that actually improves your skin. There are, however, a few things that are out of our control, so be sure to follow these skin preparation and aftercare instructions to help you maintain a gorgeous glow that looks flawless head to toe.
how to prepare for your spray tan
While the Spray Geelong tanning process is quick and easy, there are a few things you should do to prepare your skin for the spray tan. By following these preparation instructions, your spray tan will look great and last longer.

MOISTURISE IN THE LEAD UP TO YOUR TAN : Moisturising your body regularly in the week leading up to your tan will mean your skin is in the best condition possible for your appointment. Every morning or evening, take the time to nourish your body and pay particular attention to dry areas such as elbows, hands, ankles and feet. Spray Geelong's solutions are nourishing for your skin but hydration prior to the tan helps prepare your skin, and will make your tan last longer.

EXFOLIATE AT LEAST 12-24 HOURS BEFORE YOUR APPOINTMENT : Exfoliating several hours ahead of your appointment gives your pores time to close and avoid discolouration. Use oil free exfoliants.

SHOWER SEVERAL HOURS BEFORE YOUR SPRAY TAN APPOINTMENT : If your skin is wet and your pores are exposed, the spray tan formula will not stick to your skin properly, leaving you with a patchy, discoloured tan. We recommend a cold shower with no soap if you do have to shower just before your tan, hot showers will open your pores.

AVOID MOISTURISERS AND OTHER BEAUTY PRODUCTS ON THE DAY OF YOUR TAN : Come to your appointment with clean skin. No deodorant, lotions or other beauty products. We recommend no deodorant to be worn on the day of your tan if possible.

COMPLETE ALL OTHER BEAUTY SERVICES FIRST : This includes waxing, manicures, pedicures, lash appointments, facials, and massages! Waxing should be completed at least 48 hours prior to your tan.

WEAR LOOSE-FITTING CLOTHING : Loose-fitting dark cotton clothes, such as t-shirt dresses ensure that none of the freshly applied tan formula will rub off. Avoid denim, satin robes, yoga pants and bras. Slip on shoes or flip flops are recommended too.

LEATHER / VINYL SEATS : Bring a large towel (if you are coming to our studio) to cover your seats so that you avoid sweating off your fresh tan from sitting on leather/vinyl seats.

Spray Tan Aftercare Tips
​
Your spray tan will last anywhere between 6-10 days depending on your
skin complexion and how you care for your tan. Taking good care of your skin
and your tan in the week after a spray tan is super important.
​

DO NOT GET WET OR SWEAT UNTIL YOUR FIRST SOAP-LESS RINSE

QUICK SOAPLESS SHOWER POST TAN : It is super important the initial rinse off is a soap-free rinse. Have the water warm and rinse your entire body (anywhere we sprayed you with solution) for 1-2 minutes only. Time of rinse is determined at your appointment and we recommend you set an alarm post tan! Seeing streaks? That means you rinsed too quickly and did not gently skim your entire to remove bronzer, jump back in to shower and rinse some more. Please do not pee in the shower with a spray tan, the ammonia in the urine will cause your tan to streak.

NO RUBBING : After every shower, you want to pat your body opposed to rubbing it with a towel to dry. Be gentle.

SOAPS / LOTIONS : Use a sulphate/paraben free soap and lotion while you have your tan. Some lotions with a lot of perfumes can compromise the tan.

DON'T EXFOLIATE UNTIL YOU ARE READY TO SAY GOODBYE : When you are ready to get rid of your tan, use a gentle exfoliant or exfoliating mitt to create the perfect canvas for your next spray tan.

DO NOT MOISTURISE FOR AT LEAST 12 HOURS FOLLOWING YOUR APPOINTMENT : This includes showering (after your soap-less shower) with soap, workouts, hot yoga, lotions, liquid foundation, etc. Staying dry will help the solution adhere to your skin.

MOISTURISE DAILY TO PROLONG YOUR TAN : Hydrated skin maintains a tan longer than dry, thirsty skin. From Day 4 onwards, you can use our Tan Extender as your moisturizer every other day if you want your tan to last longer.

WHAT TO AVOID : Avoid swimming, long showers, baths, steam rooms, saunas, or any other activity that exposes your skin to being wet for long periods of time. Avoid harsh chemicals such as chlorine, products containing acids, massages, fashion tape, bandages, and anything else that may strip your tan.
